What is the Institute for the Future @ AACC?
IF's is guided by an Advisory Team. The institute will provide -

  • Learning and teaching by integrating future methodologies and futures perspectives into the strategies for learning throughout the college organizational culture.
  • An avenue for addressing the future through dissemination of knowledge, research, and consulting to area businesses, government, health care and other organizations. 
  • Growth and development opportunities for faculty and staff.

IF @ AACC  is a partner with the 20,000-member World Future Society.

What does IF have for me?

  • Opportunities to keep informed about the future through our Web site
  • Core book list on the future. If you're assigning a book review, consider one on the future... many available at the AACC Library.
  • Videos on the future to show in your classes.
  • A timely ezine futureportal   (all full-time and part-time members of the college community receive futureportal, others are welcome to receive it by signing up) .. you can share it with learners.
  • You can arrange speakers on the future for your civic group and/or classes (this list is managed by Event Planning and Management 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday 410-777-2724 or e-mail your request to: gfphillips@aacc.edu)

 What are some professional opportunities for my students? For Me? 

  • Be advised of upcoming events and  IF Brown Bag presentations for yourself, friends and interested students.
  • Take advantage of IF to challenge your students with in-class and out-of-class exercises on the future.  Use Questions and Answers @ the Future or the futureportal archives for critical thinking, essay writing and creativity.  Send your students into the future!
  • Keep your eyes open for emerging faculty development opportunities.
  • Stay in the loop by signing up on our permanent emailing list.
