Most hotel and lodging supervisors and managers work in full-service hotels, convention hotels, resorts, casinos and theme parks. This program will start you down this career path by preparing you to be a front desk supervisor or manager, concierge, food and beverage service supervisor, guest service agent or housekeeping supervisor.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, jobs are projected to grow at a steady rate with salaries starting from $38,000 and up.
This credit certificate program consists of 24 credits that can be earned in as little as ten months either face-to-face or online. Classroom instruction is offered days, evenings and weekends at the HCAT Building in Glen Burnie and at the Arnold campus. The final course is a practicum, whereby students work in a local hotel. Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate in Hotel and Lodging Management and can continue toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, or work in the industry, or both.
What are the requirements?
You must have a high school diploma or GED and demonstrate eligibility for ENG 111 - Composition and Introduction to Literature.

What will it cost?
Approximate cost for in county residents is $2,451 (subject to change). Scholarships and financial aid are available for qualified candidates. Attention new and current students: Maryland part-time grants are available for credit courses. Students must demonstrate financial need and register for at least 6 and not more than 11 credits that lead to a degree or certificate. - Complete a college application online or in person at the Arnold Camps, Glen Burnie Town Center, Arundel Mills or Fort Meade Army Education Center.
- Meet with a college academic adviser to review the Hotel and Lodging Certificate program requirements in detail and to determine if you meet the English 111 eligibility requirement.
