Health Care Courses at AACC

Are you a health care professional or child care provider seeking to sharpen your skills, meet continuing education requirements or advance your career? Are you a parent, camp counselor or teacher interested in learning first aid or CPR? Perhaps you're interested in entering the health field as a social worker, counselor, therapist or technician? 

Our faculty are experienced, credentialed professionals across a variety of health disciplines which include nursing, nursing and medical assistants, social workers, counselors, psychologists, massage therapists, physical and occupational therapists, and physician assistants.

Basic Life Support/CPR/First Aid
CPR courses for professionals and non-professionals as well re-certification in all areas.  

Coding
Learn the skills necessary to deliver quality healthcare by capturing accurate and timely medical data.  

Electrocardiogram and Intravenous Therapy Technician 
Prepare for a career as an electrocardiogram (EKG) and intravenous (IV) therapy technician in this accelerated career training program.

Human Services
Social workers, psychologists, nurses, substance abuse counselors and therapists, and other mental health professionals can earn CEUS (all are approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners for Category 1). Other approved accreditations are noted in the individual course descriptions.

Medical Insurance Specialist
Become a certified medical insurance specialist and earn a continuing education certificate by successfully completing a single course.

Medical Office Manager
Become a medical office manager through AACCs continuing education certificate program or enroll in online courses to meet your professional development needs.

Nursing 
Learn new or update your skills in nursing (including Nurse Refresher), medicine aide, phlebotomy, IV & Venipuncture Techniques, assisted living, and other topics. ANCC contact hours and/or Category I continuing education hours as defined by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners awarded (approved courses noted in course descriptions).

Orthopedic Technician
AACC, in partnership with Boston Reed College, offers orthopedic technician training through a combination of classroom instruction and a clinical externship. Successful completion of the program prepares students to take the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists certification exam.

Pharmacy Technicians
These courses are designed to meet the continuing education needs of licensed pharmacy technicians. Courses approved by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy are noted in the course description.

Phlebotomy 
Learn principles and practices of venipuncture, skin puncture and processing of samples for laboratory testing. Provides eligibility status for those who wish to sit for national examinations.

Physician Assistant 
These courses are specifically designed to meet the continuing education needs of physician assistants and nurse practitioners. All courses approved for continuing education by the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) are noted following the course description.

Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy 
For both physical and occupational therapy practitioners as well as other health care providers. Courses approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners are noted in the course description.

Public Health
Health professionals train to assist in the event you are asked to assist during a community health emergency.

Therapeutic Massage
Ideal for massage therapists and body-workers as well as other health care providers. AACC is a National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) continuing education approved provider.
