Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program
Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) are professionals who perform laboratory tests that assist physicians and other health care professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of health issues. MLTs perform phlebotomy, examine and analyze blood and other body fluid specimens, operate automated equipment, instruments and analyzers, and conduct manual testing in accordance with federal laws, guidelines and nationally standardized procedures.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment for MLTs is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014, as the number of laboratory tests continues to increase, with both population growth and the development of new tests.
