Introduction to Job Corps

Job Corps offers free education and vocational programs, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. The programs are designed to help ages 16 to 24 get a better job, earn more money and take control of their future. Each year approximately 62,000 students take advantage of the Job Corps training. Last year, 90 percent of students that graduated from the programs began new careers, enrolled in higher education programs or enlisted in the military.

How does the program work?
Enrolled students will learn a trade, earn a high school diploma or GED, as well as receive assistance in finding a good job. When you join the program, you will be paid a monthly allowance; the longer you stay with the program, the higher your allowance will be. Job Corps will provide career counseling and transition support to their students for up to 12 months following graduation.
