LEAN/World Class Manufacturing Training

Course: LMF, Toyota Benchmarking Trip
Toyota Benchmarking Trips are designed to allow participants an opportunity to see and learn from a fully functioning Lean environment. Participants will see how the Toyota Production System (TPS) has produced one of the top two selling passenger cars in the U.S. for the last five years.

The Toyota Production System is used by most industries as the prime benchmark for world-class manufacturing.

Each tour is limited to 10 participants. Register early! Please indicate dates on registration.

    Includes:Bus transportation, hotel, meals and the tour. Does not include airfare or transportation to Lexington, KY.  

Toyota Assembly Plant

This option includes:

  • Plant tour of world-class facility
  • Stop at driver side airbag assembly station to see:
    • Example of standardized work
    • Andon system
  • Question & answer session with TPS (Lean) experts

Upon completion of the BEC's Toyota Benchmarking Trip, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of associate training in a Lean implementation
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and problem solving in a Lean environment
  • Develop a better understanding of 5S, visual controls and the importance of standardized work
  • Understand how all operations in a process can be linked together with kanbans

Course Prerequisites:

None, but trip preference is given to anyone who is enrolled in the Lean Master Facilitator Certification program.

Summit Polymers (Toyota Supplier)

This option includes:

  • Plant has 5 - 15 minute injection molding tool changes
  • Entire plant run on pull system -- Kanbans
  • Numerous examples of visual controls
  • Question & answer session with Summit lean experts
