Purpose
Prepare for transfer to a four-year institution majoring in mathematics or other subjects requiring a strong math background. Develop analytic skills, computer- based problem solving ability and the use of mathematical reasoning to further the scientific method.
Range of occupations
With continued study after transfer, the degree can lead to a career in actuarial science, computer science, cryptology, econometrics, engineering, mathematics, mathematics education, the physical sciences or statistics.
Requirements
Completion of a two-semester sequence in chemistry, economics, or physics. The program satisfies a general education requirement for competence in computing and information technology. Consult an academic adviser for specific information.
