Residency Policy for tuition purposes for Active Duty Military Personnel and their dependents:

Anne Arundel Community College waives the 3 month residency requirement for active duty military and their dependents. Students need to complete and submit the Residency Petition form along with a copy of your military ID (also dependent ID, if spouse or child), copy of orders, and a copy of housing assignment, lease, deed or utility bill showing your resident address. Students will pay tuition at either the in-county or out-of-county or out-of-state tuition rate based on where he/she resides as demonstrated by the documentation. The link to the Residency Petition is below.

Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)

Earn a commission in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Army while completing AACC degree requirements. Enroll simultaneously at AACC and in the ROTC program at the public or private institution of your choice. Two options are the Air Force ROTC at the University of Maryland College Park or the Army ROTC at Bowie State University.

Apply up to eight credits of ROTC lecture classes taken at other colleges toward an AACC associate degree. Apply the credits as electives in programs that allow them.

For more information about the ROTC program here at AACC contact Nanci Beier at 410-777-2834 or e-mail nabeier@aacc.edu.

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC)

AACC is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges, a consortium of more than 1,800 higher education institutions and associations working to provide higher education opportunities to servicemembers and their families.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, the program helps servicemembers and their families complete college degrees, certificates and credentials despite military relocations. Its co-sponsors include the American Association of Community College and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

SOC Benefits

  • Limits the amount of coursework students must take at a single college to no more than 25 percent of degree requirements
  • College credit transfer practices reduce loss of credit and coursework duplication
  • Awards credit for military experience
