Veterans Appreciation Week

To thank Anne Arundel Community College students, faculty and staff who are, active, reserve and retired service members and veterans, following is a week of activities to consider:

Veterans Day Ceremony and Reception
Tuesday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
Program will begin at the Veterans Memorial Garden at the base of the amphitheater on AACC’s west campus, then move immediately indoors to Cade Center for Fine Arts room 219 for the remainder of the ceremony. A table will be set up to create a card to thank and welcome home our military.
Small reception will follow.

Fidos for Freedom
Thursday, November 13, 1 – 4 p.m.
Please stop by Careers Center Building room 107 to visit with the service and therapy dogs of Fidos for Freedom.
Fidos for Freedom, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing Assistance Dogs and Therapy Dogs to communities, including the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan areas.   

Student Veterans Association will host a Meet & Greet and will introduce the new Job Search Cafe at Arundel Mills, 4th floor
Thursday, Nov. 13, 4-6 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.

Operation Welcome Home
Thursday, November 13 8:30 p.m.
Support our troops and give them the hero’s welcome home they truly deserve by joining this group as they greet the soldiers coming home. Hundreds of sailors, airmen, soldiers and marines return from the War on Terror every week through the gates of the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Arundel House of Hope-Patriot House
Throughout November, AACC will be collecting winter items; coats, gloves, hats, warm socks, etc. Boxes will be available at the following locations; CCPT, AMIL 1st floor, GBTC, Fort Meade Education Center, Careers Center Building, room 107

The Arundel House of Hope is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency, transitional, and permanent affordable housing for the poor and those experiencing homelessness in Anne Arundel County. The organization’s Patriot House: A Home for Veterans opened in November 2011 as the first and only in Anne Arundel County designed to assist Veterans who are homeless with the transition back to independent living.

Create a Card Campaign
November 10 - 14
Create a card to thank and welcome home our military. Stations are available at AMIL, GBTC, CRSC 107 and the Student Union Building, outside of room 201

Cell phone for soldiers collection
Throughout November, AACC will be collecting cell phones, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, Careers Center Building rooms 314 and 107 on the Arnold campus.

Stop by one of the following locations to pick up a Bob the Bird spirit lapel pin: Arnold Campus, CRSC 107; AMIL, GBTC, Ft. Meade Education Center 

Dining Services and Chick-fil-A

Dining services will offer one of the following per day beginning November 10 - 14; small coffee, small fountain soda, bag of  75 cent chips.

Chick-fil-A will be handing out cards to be used at their Severna Park location, 511 Ritchie Hwy.

To take advantage of the above offers you will need to provide identification. Example; DD214, military ID, etc.
