Anne Arundel Community College is taking scholarship applications for the Ratcliffe Scholarship Program that offers support for entrepreneurs as they learn skills to launch and grow businesses.
The program, supported by the Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation, is seeking applicants with entrepreneurial spirit and drive who have the potential and motivation to succeed as business owners. The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 31, 2016.
Scholarships available include:
Entrepreneurial Studies Scholarship
This is available to students enrolled at AACC who have entrepreneurial aspirations. The scholarship award may be used to pay for tuition, fees, books and required materials for courses. In addition, every scholarship recipient will be paired with a mentor. The mentors and mentees will be required to meet and actively participate in the Entrepreneurial Studies Institute Mentorship Program. There is a lifetime maximum of $10,000 per student for the Entrepreneurial Studies Scholarship.
This provides students with a practical learning opportunity to complement their classroom learning. The student is required to establish an internship agreement and to register for ESI 275: Internship in Business 1. The stipend for working at least 100 hours during their internship is $1,500.
Small Business Owner Scholarship
This scholarship is available to current business owners who seek to improve business efficiency and/or expand their operations by taking credit or non-credit courses in specific areas of business. This scholarship is intended for students who may wish to earn a Letter of Recognition or Certificate, and the maximum award per Small Business Owner Scholarship recipient is $3,000.
