Anne Arundel Community College will open to students at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 10. For students enrolled in classes during this time, meeting times for those classes will not be affected and students should report to class according to their schedule.
Because of the delayed opening, the college will provide additional hours to accommodate students. Student Services and the AACC Bookstore will extend hours until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the month of January, at both the Arnold and Arundel Mills locations.
Some divisions also will use temporary staff and student workers to assist walk-in customers at the bookstore, information desk and technical call center during the delay.
The delayed opening will allow all college employees to attend the spring convocation.
Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. in the reception area of the Jenkins Gymnasium for coffee and tea. Convocation starts promptly at 9 a.m. and concludes at noon. Attendance is expected from all faculty and staff, who will hear about AACC’s progress with the strategic plan, “Engagement Matters: Pathways to Completion,” as well as important updates on the college’s priorities for the remainder of the academic year. There also will also be a number of presentations from students, faculty and staff.
“Spring convocation allows us as to come together as a college with energy, enthusiasm and focus as we kick off another year,” said Dr. Dawn Lindsay, AACC president. “Having this delay provides an opportunity for all college employees to hear the same messages at the same time so that we can best serve our students and the community.”
