Dugout Dedication and Doubleheader Set
Education/Sports
Help the AACC Pioneers celebrate a home-run partnership that yielded real-world design experience for our students and a welcome donation of funding from Koch Homes Inc. to help build dugouts for the women’s softball field.
The Dugout Dedication and Doubleheader on Saturday, April 9, begins at 11 a.m. at the women’s softball field, which is adjacent to the Charles M. “Skip” Brown III Baseball Field. Koch Homes Inc. donated $25,000 toward construction of the dugouts.
At noon, the men’s and women’s teams batter up, with the men taking on Baltimore City Community College and the women facing a team to be determined. The event rain date is April 23.
Lacrosse team members will sell refreshments as a fundraiser and drawings promise prizes for those attending.
The project’s preliminary design came from Architecture and Interior Design students. John Markowski of Arnold, assistant professor of architecture and interior design, offered the design task as a service-learning project in two of his fall 2003 classes. Many of his students participated.
Their designs were reviewed by Patricia Hanzook, chair of the department of health, physical education and athletics, staff, coaches and members of the women's softball team. Based on their input, Markowski generated a single design incorporating aspects of several students' projects.
Join us for the dedication and stay to cheer on the Pioneers. The event is free; R.S.V.P. to 410-777-1210 or alumni@aacc.edu
