AACC Students, Faculty Exhibit Stained Glass

Dec. 21, 2006

Art

The talents of 19 Anne Arundel Community College noncredit, continuing education students and their instructors go on display Jan. 6-26 in an Arnold campus exhibit of their best work.

View “Mosaic Tile, Stained Glass Art and Fused-Glass Jewelry” at the Pascal Center for Performing Arts Gallery. Meet the artists and discuss their work at a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in the gallery.

Among those exhibiting works are Cheryl Loeschke of Glen Burnie, a stained glass instructor whose artwork “Calla Lilies” is an inspiration with vivid green leaves and delicate pink lilies.    Student Lisa Gilbert of Arnold, who worked with fused art glass jewelry, is exhibiting “Moroccan Spice” featuring exuberant bursts of orange on a field of green and “Oceano” displaying a subtle mixture of blues and greens.

The stained glass artwork “Springtime Wreath” by student Deborah Kotakos of Annapolis displays a perfect circle of cheery yellow florals within a circle of emerald green on a clear square background edged with green at four corners.

Offered through the college Office of Lifelong Learning, courses in stained glass, mosaic tile and fused-glass jewelry offer beginners and experienced artists skills in technical crafts. The office’s art program coordinator will attend the Jan. 5 reception to greet guests and provide information on upcoming spring courses in the visual and performing arts.

        Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. For exhibit information, call 410-777-2517, e-mail ahramundo@aacc.edu or go online to www.aacc.edu/artsandcrafts.

The Arnold campus is at 101 College Parkway. Call Disability Support Services, 410-777-2306 or Maryland Relay 711, 72 hours in advance to request special accommodations.
