AACC Hires Child Development Center Director

Anne Arundel Community College has selected Janet Klenkel of Severna Park as Director of the AACC Child Development Center on the Arnold campus.

Most recently director of the Board of Child Care -- Tide Point Day Care & Early Education Center, Klenkel has directed the Prince George’s (County) Child Resource Center Inc. the Center and LaPetite Child Care in Crofton. She also taught in Head Start programs in Fairfax County, Va., Public Schools and in Baltimore.

In her new role at AACC, Klenkel is responsible for planning, oversight, implementation and evaluation of center programs. She also is responsible for occupational training programs and courses for staff and volunteers.

"I’ve always wanted to work in my community and AACC and the Child Development Center has a wonderful reputation," Klenkel said. Her immediate goal is to expand the summer program the center offers as well as to form more community partnerships.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University in Virginia and a Master of Science degree in Business -- Organizational Development and Human Resources from Johns Hopkins University.

The AACC Child Development Center is a fully NAEYC accredited and MSDE certified education and child care center for children ages 3-6 years. For information, call 410-777-2450.
