Tribute Set for Senator Paul S. Sarbanes

Jan. 4, 2006

Join a luncheon tribute to U.S. Senator Paul S. Sarbanes, the longest-serving U.S. senator in state history, at noon Monday, Jan. 30, at Anne Arundel Community College.

Re-elected in 2000 to an unprecedented fifth term in the U.S. Senate, 2006 marks the final year of Sarbanes’ legislative career, one stretching back to the 1960s. After serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates early in his political career, Sarbanes was elected to Congress in the 1970s representing Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1977.

Luncheon tribute sponsors are AACC, Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, BWI Business Partnership Inc., the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce and the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.

The tribute takes place in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.
