The Committee on National Security Systems has certified that courses in Anne Arundel Community College’s Information Systems Security degree program map 100 percent to the National Security Telecommunications and Systems Security Instruction 4011 standard.
AACC’s program is the first in Maryland and one of only a few in the country to meet the standard. This certification signals to government, business and industry employers that program graduates have mastered the specific information assurance knowledge and skills required for entry into security specialist careers.
"This designation will help our students and graduates stand out from other job applicants because it assures employers that they come to the job fully equipped with the skills and knowledge needed," said Fred Klappenberger, Ph.D., professor and chair of the AACC Computer Information Systems department.
The college will receive an official certificate from the organization on June 5 at the 10th Colloquium for Information Systems Education at University of Maryland University College. The colloquium, hosted alternately by academia, government and industry, provides a forum for information assurance experts to discuss and form guidelines for undergraduate and graduate curricula, common requirements, specific knowledge, skills and abilities and certification requirements.
