Sept. 11, 2006

Education

Have a blast learning practical, useful and creative electronic design tools by registering for one or more of five new noncredit continuing education computer design courses offered this fall at Anne Arundel Community College.

Courses include instruction and practice with Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word and MenuPro software. All five courses are offered on the Arnold campus or at the Glen Burnie Town Center.

Familiarize yourself with numerous design elements using MenuPro software by enrolling in "Designing Restaurant Menus" (CTT 390), $160, offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 21 and 28.

Or, master different design concepts of Microsoft Word software in "Designing Holiday Cards, Invitations and Place Card Holders" (CTT 380), $114, offered 1-4:10 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 21 and 28, and "Creating Newsletters, Fliers and Brochures" (CTT 378), $114, offered 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, or Saturday, Nov. 11.

"Organizing Your Family Photographs on Fabric" (CTT 385), $50, offered 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, teaches students to print quality photos onto washable fabrics. Bring fabric and electronic images or prints to class.

Finally, learn photo-compositing and collage skills in "Digital Collage Creation with Adobe Photoshop" (CTT 386), $100, offered 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 1-15.

Some courses require prerequisites prior to enrollment. The Arnold campus is at 101 College Parkway. Glen Burnie Town Center classes are at the Arundel Center North, 101 Crain Highway. For information call 410-777-2325, consult a fall noncredit schedule of classes, or visit www.aacc.edu/it.

Costs listed are for county residents; there is an additional charge of $5 per noncredit course for residents of other counties and an additional $10 per noncredit course charge for out-of-state residents.

Registration is under way. To avoid cancellations, register at least 10 days before the start of any class. Current and returning students can register using the Internet at myaacc.aacc.edu or the STARS touch-tone phone system at 410-777-2241 from 5 a.m. to midnight daily. New students or those without access to the Internet can sign up by mail, fax or in person at the Arnold campus, AACC at Arundel Mills, AACC at the Glen Burnie Town Center or the Fort Meade Army Education Center.
