Lots of people have good ideas. Meet the ones who have turned those ideas into thriving businesses at the e-nnovations 2007 Mid-Atlantic Entrepreneurship Conference this fall.
Hosted by the Entrepreneurial Studies Institute at Anne Arundel Community College, the conference will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel, 1743 West Nursery Road, Baltimore. Culminating the day will be the Paul S. Sarbanes Spirit Awards Dinner at 6 p.m.
Featured at the daylong conference will be speakers such as Richard Sharoff, founder of Maggie Moo's International and chief executive officer of FranPoint Partners, and Stephanie Watkins, regional administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The conference will cover such topics as social entrepreneurship; doing business with the government; creativity and opportunity recognition; legal issues of intellectual property, trademarks, copyrights and patents; decisions involved in hiring, contracting and subcontracting employees; and business basics of creating a business plan, funding, marketing and using government resources.
The Paul S. Sarbanes Spirit Awards Dinner, co-hosted by the Paul S. Sarbanes Center for Public and Community Service at AACC, recognizes social entrepreneurs -- people who implemented ideas, programs or organizations that made a positive social change or solved a community problem. Former Sen. Sarbanes, known for his nearly four decades of public service, will be among the presenters of three awards - one recognizing a national social entrepreneur, one honoring a social entrepreneur in Anne Arundel County and one featuring a student or new graduate from 18 to 25 years old.
Attend both the conference and the dinner or just the dinner. Register by Aug. 15 to get early-bird discounts.
Conference costs, hotel room reservation information and registration forms are on the e-nnovations Web site. For conference or registration information, go to the e-nnovations Web site or contact AACC Continuing and Professional Education at 410-777-7057 or cpe@aacc.edu.
