Think college is financially out of your reach? Think again!
Collegebound students and their parents or guardians can learn about college financial aid and scholarship opportunities, tax credits and get help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at two free “You Can Afford College” workshops sponsored by Anne Arundel Community College.
The workshops led by AACC Financial Aid office staff are on Feb. 9 from 6-9 p.m. at AACC at Arundel Mills Rooms 201 and 203 in Hanover or Feb. 13 from 1-4 p.m. at the Careers Center Building Room 262 on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.
In the first half of the workshop, staff will discuss types of aid available and the application process for scholarships, grants, student loans and tax credits. In the second part, students and parents who are ready to file their FAFSA can use AACC computers to submit their forms with the help of AACC financial aid experts. The list of documents needed to complete the FAFSA is online at www.aacc.edu/aid/workshops.cfm. To be considered for state aid for fall 2010-spring 2011 classes, students must submit the FAFSA by March 1.
