Join Anne Arundel Community College students and the community for a powerful poetry performance by Andrea Gibson at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, on the Arnold campus.
Winner of the 2008 Women of the World Poetry Slam and a four-time Denver grand champion, Gibson will perform her powerfully thought-provoking works as part of the AACC celebration of Women’s History Month. Her readings cover topics as varied as politics, gender issues and global justice.
Gibson has appeared on National Public Radio, Air America and independent radio stations across the country. “Yellowbird,” which came out in 2009, is her 4th full-length album/CD of poetry. Her book “Pole Dancing to Gospel Hymns” was a Pushcart Prize nominee.
The free event takes place in Humanities Building Room 112 and is sponsored by the AACC Women’s Studies department and Women’s Institute. The Arnold campus is at 101 College Parkway. For information, e-mail email@example.com or visit www.aacc.edu/women.
