Eleven faculty members at Anne Arundel Community College will receive teaching excellence awards at the 32nd annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence May 30-June 2 in Austin, Texas.
The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) will present the AACC faculty members and other NISOD winners with medallions during the awards ceremony at its annual conference. Recipients are selected for outstanding service and teaching excellence.
The AACC recipients are: James P. Barbour, Ph.D., of Annapolis, assistant professor of physical science; Vicki D. Cone of Annapolis, associate professor and information resources librarian; Myra G. Dennis of Arnold, associate professor of nursing; Paul R. Derdul of Queenstown, associate professor of computer information systems; Cheryl R. Heemstra of Severna Park, associate professor of computer information systems; Christopher P. Mona of Severna Park, professor of visual arts; Jessica G. Rabin, Ph.D., of Curtis Bay, associate professor of English; Kelly K. Sell of Severn, associate professor and applications coordinator of computer technologies; Dimitra M. Tangires of Easton, instructor of architecture and interior design; Catherine M. Waterman of Annapolis, instructional specialist, English as a second language and Elizabeth A. Wyler of Arnold, instructor of engineering technologies.
Founded in 1978, NISOD members include more than 700 community colleges worldwide. NISOD is part of the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas in Austin.
