Anne Arundel Community College is seeking applications from students wishing to enroll in the new Surgical Technology degree program that begins in August.
This Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares students to enter what the Maryland Hospital Association describes as being one of the fastest growing professions in the nation. The college will give first consideration to candidates who are residents of Anne Arundel County at the time of application. It will consider applications filed after July 1 on a space-available basis.
Surgical technologists work in hospitals, surgical centers and other health care facilities. They prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes and solutions; prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and disinfecting incision sites; transport patients to the operating room; observe patients’ vital signs; check charts and help the surgical team with sterile gowns and gloves.
