March 11, 2011
Events

“Family Matters,” an exhibit of video and photography by international artists who routinely address family dynamics in their works, is on display now through April 4 at the Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery at Anne Arundel Community College.

The multimedia show curated by Andrea Pollan of the Washington, D.C. curator’s office presents a video by Guy Ben-Ner (Israel), a video and four photographs by Kathryn Cornelius (United States), a video by Nathalie Djurberg with music by Hans Berg (Sweden), four photographs by Thekla Ehling (Germany), a video by Jesper Just (Denmark), two videos by Hillerbrand+Magsamen (Texas) and a video and photograph by Nicholas and Sheila Pye (Canada).

“Family dynamics affect each of us, no matter the condition of our birth and upbringing,” Pollan said. “This exhibition offers a charged array of emotions and nuances that have compelled these artists to explore this slippery, sometimes dangerous and vulnerable terrain.”

      Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays except March 21-25. For information call 410-777-7028 or e-mail cpmona@aacc.edu.
