April 11, 2011
Events

The Anne Arundel Community College Student Education Association welcomes the public to a free viewing and discussion of the new film, “Waiting for Superman,” which is described as a call to action to save American schools.

Join the students to see the film from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus. A discussion follows from 8:30-9 p.m. The rated PG documentary released in 2010 follows a group of youth with academic promise as they struggle in a school system that inhibits academic growth. The story provides a detailed review of the public education system, including a look at failing systems that lead to a culture of dropping out of school and that promote failure.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The film viewing is co-sponsored by the Student Education Association and the AACC Student Association. View more information on the film, which was directed by Davis Guggenheim.
