Anne Arundel Community College’s student culinary team captured first place, successfully defending its title, at the 3rd Annual Chesapeake Culinary Cup.
The recent competition took place at AACC’s Hotel Culinary Arts and Tourism (HCAT) Institute in at the Glen Burnie Town Center. The Chesapeake Culinary Cup is an American Culinary Federation (ACF) sanctioned competition salon open to regional college culinary arts programs. Each school entered a four-person team with two savory and two pastry contestants. The scores of all four students from each school were tabulated to determine an overall team score. ACF competition individual medals as well as team trophies were awarded. In addition, the student from each school with the highest score was recognized during the awards ceremony.
Following AACC in second place was the Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts at York Technical Institute. Third place went to Stratford University and Honorable Mention to Lincoln Culinary Institute.
The HCAT Team Anne Arundel individual results are: Gold Medal to Sarah Ward of Ellicott City, Silver Medal to Chris Galanakis of Pasadena and Bronze Medals to Stephanie Bishop of Arnold and Heather Tompkins of Severn.
