The Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery at Anne Arundel Community College invites you to the national juried show “Utopias,” on view from Nov. 10-Dec. 10.
Join the show juror, artists, faculty and students for two special free opening day events on Thursday, Nov. 10. Juror Jeffry Cudlin will discuss the exhibit and theme of “Utopias” at 12:30 p.m. followed that evening with a reception and refreshments from 6-8 p.m. Cudlin was recently the artistic director of the Arlington Arts Center and is currently a professor of curatorial studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He writes for the Washington Post and the Washington City Paper on a freelance basis.
The exhibit features Cudlin’s selection of artworks offering new visions and better places in contemporary art. Artists hail from Ohio, New Jersey, New York and the Mid-Atlantic region. Among the two Maryland artists are Sue Johnson of Lexington Park with artwork entitled “Jell-O Mountain” and Ryan Schroeder of Silver Spring with “Hunt, Hunt-Schroeder, Schroeder.”
