The Maryland General Assembly honored Martha A. Smith, Ph.D., retiring president of Anne Arundel Community College, on Jan. 23 in Annapolis with resolutions recognizing her outstanding service to the state’s residents.
Smith is retiring in August 2012 as president of AACC, which is the largest single campus community college in Maryland with 53,048 annual credit and noncredit students enrolled in fiscal year 2010-2011. Under her leadership, the college has achieved national recognition as a leader in cybersecurity education, workforce training and for student excellence.
House Speaker Michael E. Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. each presented Smith with resolutions offering congratulations in recognition of “18 years of dedicated service and extraordinary leadership” and for “18 years of exemplary leadership.”
