Feb. 2, 2012
Ticket sales are under way for the Feb. 9-18 Anne Arundel Community College Theatre at AACC production of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” featuring reverse casting sure to please audiences of all ages.
Performed by the Theatre at AACC, this production of one of Shakespeare’s funniest comedies still has Petruchio and Kate in a battle-of-the-sexes but in this show, the woman tames the man. The production contains all the traditional farcical elements of physical comedy, while examining how our perceptions react when we see the tables turned.
The curtain rises on the show in the Humanities Building Room 112 at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays Feb. 9, 10, 11; Feb. 16, 17, 18; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. Actors are primarily AACC students with the exception of Sarah Bierc (Pasadena) as Petruchio, Joseph Riley (Crofton) as Kate and former AACC student Carlotta Capuano as Baptista. Student actors are Patrick Armstrong as Vincentio, Rashad Fesguson as Biondella, Brian Gehdres as Hortensio, Max Hall as Sly, Nicole Ponds as Gremio, Tori Reilly as Grumio, Sarah Tighe as Tranio and Tyler Zeck as Bianca.
The show is directed by Lars Tatom, assistant professor of performing arts and Theatre at AACC coordinator.
Tickets are $15 general admission; $12 for AACC faculty and staff, seniors, groups and outside students and $7 for those with a valid AACC student ID.
