Baltimore Concert Opera Lecture, Performance

March 2, 2012

Join local opera lovers in a rare opportunity to see Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” performed in an intimate concert setting by the Baltimore Concert Opera through an Anne Arundel Community College March 25 noncredit continuing education course.

Journey by chauffeured van from the Arnold campus departing at 1:30 p.m. to the historic Garrett Jacobs Mansion (Engineers Club) in Baltimore for “Enjoy the Opera: Donizetti” (MUC 302 section 101). This Sunday class features a 2:30 p.m. pre-concert lecture about the history of opera and this opera in particular followed by the 3 p.m. performance. Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” is a tale of love, deceit and treachery. Unlike a full opera with sets and costumes, a concert opera is held in a more intimate setting that allows participants to focus on the voices and emotion. Electronic English subtitles are provided.

Participants return to campus by approximately 6 p.m. Cost of $59 for county residents includes a $49 fee and transportation. Register for MUC 302 section one by March 15. For information call 410-777-2325 or visit
