AACC Hosts Teacher Education Fair April 11

      Thinking about becoming a teacher or advancing your career as a teacher? Get answers to questions about career paths, training options and more at Anne Arundel Community College’s free Teacher Education Fair from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, on the Arnold campus. Doors open at 2:45 p.m.

      The annual Teacher Education Fair in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology Room 100 is geared to Anne Arundel County Public School students, recent high school graduates, returning adult learners, career changers, private or parochial teachers seeking certification and child care providers seeking associate degrees or professional development.

      Kicking off this year’s fair is an inspirational keynote address by Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year Laura Groo of Southern Middle School. She will share insights gained during her more than three decades as a teacher. Gross is the school’s cultural arts coordinator, a language arts advisory teacher, 6th grade service-learning coordinator and interdisciplinary team leader.

      The event schedule is:

  • 2:45 p.m. Doors open and registration begins
  • 3-3:25 p.m. Laura Groo, AACPS teacher of the year
  • 3:30-4:15 p.m. AACPS hiring / teaching certification
  • 4:30-5:15 p.m. Teacher panel comprised of AACC alumni
  • 5:30-6 p.m. Career pathways in education (includes alternative pathways)

      During the sessions and afterward, meet and talk with education representatives from schools including AACC, Coppin State University, Goucher College, Notre Dame of Maryland University, McDaniel College, Morgan State University, Stevenson University, Towson University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Maryland College Park and Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
