Journey to Costa Rica for a three-week Spanish language immersion course and enjoy special excursions to supplement your experience as part of a travel-study program through Anne Arundel Community College.
Students will study “Elementary Spanish 1” (SPA 111), a three-credit course that introduces people with no prior Spanish language experience to the basics of pronunciation and grammar necessary for reading, writing and conversing in Spanish. Classes will meet in San José, Costa Rica, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to noon with Thomas W. Edison, Ph.D., AACC associate professor and chair of AACC’s World Languages Department. Studying in San José will provide students a holistic approach to learning Spanish in a different culture. Students may also take the course for non-credit.
Students will be housed in comfortable hotels during the entire trip. In addition to classes, students will explore Tortuguero, the National Park, Café Britt Coffee Plantation, Puerto Viejo and the Arenal Volcano.
Travel dates are July 8-29, 2013. The trip cost is $3,075 based on double occupancy, plus tuition for those enrolling in the three-credit course. The registration and final payment deadline is March 29, 2013. After March 29, payments are non-refundable.
The trip is co-sponsored by the AACC Department of World Languages and the Office of Travel Study and Global Engagement, part of the Sarbanes Center for Public and Community Service. For information, contact Edison at firstname.lastname@example.org
