AACC Athletes Score Just as High in the Classroom

­Anne Arundel Community College showed its athletics program scored just as high in the classroom when six student-athletes were named National Junior College Athletic Association Academic Student Athletes. Three AACC teams also were recognized as top NJCAA Academic Teams with at least a 3.0 grade-point average.

AACC tied with Harford Community College with having the most teams posting GPAs above 3.0. AACC’s three top teams were Women’s Cross Country, with a 3.15 GPA average, coached by Jim Griffiths to an eighth-place finish; Women’s Lacrosse, with a 3.05 GPA, also coached by Griffiths to finish third nationally; and Men’s Golf, 3.02 GPA, coached by Joel Thorne to a sixth-place finish.
