Success-Failure
Spring Semester 2012
How vastly different these words are and yet all of us at some point face both sets of circumstances in our lives. In order to assist students to the goal of success in the nursing program, I thought it wise to address this issue and find tools that are helpful in working through the process.
Retired basketball player Michael Jordan has a great quote that I like to share with students:
I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.
As students face the ongoing challenge of study, commitment, exams, success, and failure, it is imperative to remember that there will be peaks and valleys. Learning effective ways to deal with the difficult times brings a steady, calming influence to life and allows for growth to occur through any result, good or bad.
There are two different resources on success and failure that provide helpful guidance for nursing students. The first resource is through Stanford University and the second is from Harvard. Please take the time to look through these as you seek to build your confidence and ability to deal with life’s challenges.
Please consider meeting with the Nurse Mentor and we can work together towards an effective plan for your future!
