The purpose of the nursing student peer mentoring program is to assist the first-semester nursing student with his or her transition, challenges, and progression in nursing school.
What is Student Peer Mentoring?
When a student (second, third or fourth semester) has been through a specific course or program and interacts with a first-semester student who is currently enrolled in that program, he/she provides:
- information concerning campus, course concepts, and activities
- support in social and academic progression
- encouragement toward academic success
- open communication by engaging and promoting a positive relationship
