The Parenting Center
Parents play an important role in the growth and development of their children. Effective parenting requires commitment, dedication and interpersonal skills. Anne Arundel Community College honors parents and their importance in a child’s life.
“What’s done to children, they will do to society.”

Parenting the Middle School Child
The Parenting Center at AACC, in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), is offering parents of middle school children a course about the development of adolescents. The ten-hour course is taught in five, two-hour sessions and is free of charge. Parents will not only receive the latest research from experts in the field, but more importantly, will leave with practical parenting strategies to help their children through the turbulent teen years. Topics include adolescent development, strategies for successful parent-child communication, teen substance abuse, sexuality, and popular teen culture.
See our flier (PDF) for a complete list of class meeting dates and times, as well as a registration form. (Registration is free, but you still have to sign up.)
