Pet Ownership

Pampering and caring for your pet is easy at AACC. The School of Continuing and Professional Studies offers classes in Pet Massage, CPR and First Aid and Dog Grooming. Learn about dog behavior during major life changes or get your dog ready for the fun, competitive world of dog shows. Experienced professionals provide expert instruction for dog lovers.

PET 310 - Pet Massage
Learn Massaging skills that help support your pet's health and longevity.

PET 312 - Pet First Aid and CPR
Learn life-saving pet first aid techniques. Receive hands-on instruction on primary emergency assessment, rescue breathing, choking management, bleeding control, heat-and cold-related injuries and CPR. Manual and course completion card included.

PET 318 - Animal Reiki
Learn how to use reiki, Japeanese energy healing. for animals. Discuss chakras, general enery concepts and animal reiki techniques. Receive reiki attunements.
 
PET 314 - Elements of K-9 Behavior
Learn the difference between canine behavior and temperament. Strengthen the bond between human and dog by learning how they think and process their environment.

PET 320 - Dog Training Techniques NEW
Utilize elements of pet psychology to develop a practical, easy to implement training program. Examine training techniques using positive reinforcement. Develop a specific training plan for your own dog.
     NOTE: Instructor will provide dog for training demonstration.

PET 323 – Pet Health
Identify and discuss important topics of general health care for your pets including diet and nutrition, common diseases and parasites, vaccinations, exercise and basic grooming.

PET 322 – Feline Behavior
Explore feline behavior such as obsessive=-compulsive behavior, aggression, destructive scratching and litter box avoidance. Discuss how anatomy and physiology impact a cat’s behavior. Examine training techniques to successfully eliminate abnormal behavior.

PET 316 - Start a Pet Sitting Business ONLINE
Learn the essentials of starting a pet sitting business including, basic dog and cat nutrition, exercise, first aid and how to handle home visits. Explore finances, start-up costs, accounting, fee-setting, business plans and low-cost marketing.
