Physician Assistant Program Admissions

All admission materials/applications for the class beginning May 2011 (Graduating Class of 2013) will be updated and available April 2010. 

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend one of the scheduled Physician Assistant program orientation seminars for information regarding the admission requirements, the application and selection process, course sequence, program costs, employment information, and duties and responsibilities of physician assistants.

Prior to final acceptance into the PA program, students will be required to submit a completed health examination record and a criminal background check.

The Physician Assistant curriculum is a 25-month full-time program. Students should plan their personal matters and financial resources accordingly. Employment while enrolled in the Physician Assistant program is not recommended.

Please use the following information as a general guide pending specific updates for the admissions cycle for the class beginning in 2011:

  • A complete Anne Arundel Community College Admission Application has been received by AACC’s Admissions office. On the application, under "Enrollment Information" please select the following: the current term (example: if you are completing this application in the Spring 2010, choose Spring 2010) and goal #3, Certificate for Physician Assistant (code: AA.GEN.PA).
  • A complete CASPA Application received by AACC’s Health Professions Admissions Office. To include all three letters of recommendation and all official transcripts received and verified on the CASPA application.
  • A complete AACC Physician Assistant Program Supplemental Application and fee received. Applications for the class beginning in 2011 will be available in April 2010.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a nationally recognized institution.
  • All five (5) prerequisite courses completed with a grade of “C” or higher and a cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Cumulative, total GPA of a 3.0 or higher as calculated on the CASPA application. 
  • Patient Contact Experience form(s) submitted. If an applicant does not have patient contact experience, please submit form marked with “No Patient Contact Experience.”
  • All official transcripts (stamped, sealed and unopened) from all higher-level institutions attended sent with the AACC Physician Assistant Program Supplemental Application. In the event that specific transcripts must be sent directly to AACC, list information on the supplemental application and use the college's transcript request form.
  • Foreign Medical Graduates and International Students: ECE, AACRAO or WES official evaluation(s) for all higher level institutions attended sent (stamped, sealed and unopened) with the AACC Physician Assistant Program Supplemental Application and English requirement met. 
  • Complete the Physician Assistant Program Application Checklist and send with the Physician Assistant Program Supplemental Application.

Anne Arundel Community College's Physician Assistant program does not grant credit for prior academic or work experience. Therefore, we do not offer advanced placement in either the didactic or clinical portions of the program.

The Anne Arundel Community College Physician Assistant program reserves the right to revise the admission requirements, selection criteria, administrative procedures and the physician assistant curriculum as deemed necessary without prior notification.
