Step 2: Preparing to Apply

Are you eligible to apply to AACC's PA program?  

Preparing to apply can take time and is a crucial step in the
process of applying to the Physician Assistant Program. 

Admissions Requirements

  • A complete & verified CASPA application (see admission step 3) must be received by AACC's Health Professions Admissions Office by September 1, 2012 (this includes three letters of recommendation, patient contact experience and all official transcripts/evaluations submitted directly to CASPA).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a nationally recognized institution. Official transcripts must reflect degree as well as all for-credit coursework.
  • All five (5) prerequisite coursesPDF completed with a grade of “C” or higher are reflected on the CASPA application. Applicants are responsible for reviewing the listed prerequisite course descriptionsPDF to ensure equivalency prior to submitting the CASPA application. Transcript evaluation services are not available prior to completing a CASPA application. Please view the Prerequisite FAQs Sheet PDF for additional information regarding course equivalency.
  • Cumulative prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher. If coursework is repeated, the most recent grade will be used in the calculation of the GPA.
  • Cumulative, total GPAPDF of 3.0 or higher as calculatedPDF on the CASPA application. This includes all for-credit coursework (no time limit and both grades are included if coursework is repeated).
  • Additional PA Admissions Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates and International Students.
Am I a competitive applicant? 
  • Patient Contact Experience is not required but strongly recommended to be a competitive applicant. A minimum of 1400 hours is recommended and the quality of experience is ranked as considered, preferred and highly preferred. For example please review the following link, patient contact experience.PDF 
  • Letters of References are completed through the CASPA and it is recommended that applicants use professional and/or academic references that they have know for a minimum of 6 months. Please do not send letters directly to the AACC.
  • The AACC PA Program values service to country, state/local government and community. Be sure to report this information on the CASPA Application.
  • For AACC's PA program 500-600 applications are typically received yearly. To compare your application profile to the statistics for previously selected candidates, please review the PA Student Profile.PDF 

Anne Arundel Community College's Physician Assistant Program does not grant advance placement in either the didactic or clinical portions of the program.
