Chief/Director of Public Safety
Gary Lyle joined the College on November 25, 1995. He began his law enforcement career with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in 1969 after serving three and a half years in the Air Force. While with the police department he served in a number of positions within the agency before becoming a Lieutenant. During his 26 year tenure with the police department, he worked in the functional areas of patrol operations, criminal investigation, career criminal apprehension, and property management. He served as a commander in the Narcotics, Career Criminal and Property Management Sections of the department.
Gary is a graduate of the University of Maryland, University College and Anne Arundel Community College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Technology and Management and an Associate of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. He has received specialized police management and leadership training from the Maryland Police Training Commission, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the National Intelligence Academy. He is also a graduate of the 169th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.
