Chief of Police / Director of Public Safety
Sean Kapfhammer joined the College on June 1, 2016. He began his law enforcement career with the Baltimore City Police Department in 1990. While in the police department, he served in a leadership position overseeing operational, investigative, administrative and tactical assignments.
During his 21 year career, Sean served as a commander of the Southwest District Operations Section, the Westside Special Enforcement Team and the Southern District Major Crimes Section. He was the recipient of numerous awards and citations, including the Medal of Honor and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Heroes Award.
After his retirement, Sean was appointed the Chief of Police position of the Carroll Township Police Department, which is located in York County, Pennsylvania.
Prior to coming to AACC, Sean was the Deputy Director of Public Safety for the campus police at Loyola University Maryland.
Sean is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, where he received both his bachelors and master’s degree in Management. He is also the graduate of numerous leadership schools including Northwestern University, Penn State, Southern Police Institute and FBI Leeda.
He is also a certified local emergency management coordinator and has completed the requirements for his basic, advanced and professional certifications in that field from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
