Motivating, Matriculation through Mentoring (M3)

Motivating Matriculation through Mentoring, or also referred to as M3, is comprised of students who have chosen peer mentoring as a specific success strategy. Mentoring according to research has been proven to have positive results in assisting individuals toward their academic goals. The intention of the program is for students to cultivate meaningful relationships and begin to share specific challenges, successes, and strategies that have aided in shaping who they are academically, and how information and experiences have helped them to navigate their next decision toward a specific goal and staying on course.

Designed to:

  • Encourage academic excellence
  • Establish meaningful relationships
  • Create an awareness of multiculturalism and diversity

The role of a peer mentor:

  • Act as a guide/resource for first year AACC and SASP students
  • Attend provided trainings/workshops
  • Represent Anne Arundel Community College to its highest standard

To become a mentor

  • Have knowledge of AACC resources
  • Have a 2.75 GPA, Cumulative 15 credit hours, or a combination of the two
  • Have time to invest in the social and academic transition of a peer
