Performing Groups at AACC
AACC is home to a wide variety of talented performers. Students and community members comprise performing groups in music, dance, drama and poetry. All groups perform throughout the year, and all performances are open to the public. For information on upcoming performances, call 410-777-2218.
Concert Band
Members perform concert band and wind ensemble music. The band is open to all qualified players, although auditions may be required. Students enrolled in MUS 184 may receive one college credit. Community members may register through Continuing Education for MUS 387, Community Concert Band. The Concert Band is directed by Ray Ascione and meets on Monday evenings from 7-9:45 p.m. in CADE 224. Concert Choir
Members perform music literature from the Renaissance through contemporary periods. The band is open to students and community members. Students enrolled in MUS 182 may receive one college credit. Community members may register through Continuing Education for MUS 388, Community Concert Choir. Jazz Band
Members perform jazz and stage-band music. The jazz band is open to all qualified players, although auditions may be required. Open to students and community members, students enrolled in MUS 181 may receive one college credit. Community members may register through Continuing Education for MUS 386, Community Jazz Band. Orchestra
Members of the college orchestra perform orchestral works from baroque to contemporary eras. The orchestra is open to all qualified players, although auditions may be required. Open to students and community members, students enrolled in MUS 180 may receive one college credit. Community members may register through Continuing Education for MUS 385, Community Orchestra. The orchestra is conducted by Doug Byerly and meets on Thursday evenings from 7-9:45 p.m. in CADE 224. For more information, call 410-777-7230.
By audition only, this performance-based company rehearses twice a week and performs at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Students have the opportunity to choreograph as well as dance in pieces by the company director and guest choreographers. To receive credit, students may sign up for DAN 240. The AACC Dance Company is a member of the Maryland Council for Dance and the American College Dance Festival Association. The Dance Company is directed by Lynda Fitzgerald. A performance based drama club, the Moonlight Troupers perform a musical every November and either a children's show or a drama every spring. Students are involved in all aspects of the production including building sets, setting lights and of course, acting. Auditions for the performances are open to students and community members.
