Resident Teacher Certification

Become a secondary teacher through an exciting new opportunity offered by the TEACH Institute in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. If you have a bachelor's degree in one of the content areas listed below, you may qualify to participate in the Resident Teacher Certificate (RTC) program. Resident Teacher Certification (RTC) programs combine on-the-job training through a classroom internship with required education coursework. Upon completion, RTC candidates receive a standard Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate. Upon completion, RTC candidates receive a standard Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate.

Program Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 24 college credits in one of the following content areas as well as six additional college credits in a related content area
    • Biology
    • Foreign Language
    • Chemistry
    • Mathematics 
    • Earth/Space Science
    • Physical Science
    • English
    • Physics
  • 2.75 college grade point average in the coursework listed above
  • Passing scores on Praxis 1 exam
  • Passing scores on Praxis 2 content area exam
