Q: What do I need to take an exam in the Testing Center?
A:
Everyone must present a photo identification (for Cetiport, Pearson VuePrometrics and CLEP candidates, please check their Web sites.) For all classroom and distance learning exams, please know your professor's name and course number.

Q: Is there a fee for placement testing?
A: No, unless you are from another school.

Q: Is there a practice or sample test for placement?
A:
Yes. ESL Placement (PDF), Health Professions Placement (PDF) and College Placement (PDF).

Q: Does AACC testing offer proctoring Other School Placement exams/tests?
A:
Yes, we offer proctoring of  the Accuplacer Placement Exams for Other School Placement Test (OST Placement). This is for students from other institutions who wish to have their test proctored by AACC's Testing Office. The fee is $15.

Q: Do I need to schedule an appointment for my placement test?
A: Only if you need special accommodations, otherwise placement testing is offered on a walk-in basis.

Q: Can I take the placement exam(s) more than once?
A: Yes, you can retest the English and reading a second time. If you want to retest the math placement, you must complete an SKL 328 refresher course first.

Q: Who has to take the Health Professions Arithmetic Placement test?
A: The Health Professions Arithmetic Placement test is designed to determine whether a student has sufficient arithmetic skills to qualify for Nursing (RN and LPN programs) and EMT-Paramedic Program. Every student applying for either of these programs must take this particular placement test. Please view a sample of the Health Professions Arithmetic Placement test (PDF).

Q: What is the ESL Placement?
A: ESL is English as a Second Language and this test is used to help determine your skill levels when using the English language. After the Test is scored, you can review the results with an ESL advisor and discuss suggestions on appropriate courses. Please view a sample of the ESL Placement test (PDF).

Q: Who Needs to take the ESL Placement Test?
A: New Students pursuing a degree or certificate who are not native speakers of English courses at other colleges in the area of English, reading or mathematics. Non-degree or certificate seeking students who want to take courses that require specific placement scores. Please view a sample of the ESL Placement test (PDF).

Q.How is the ESL Placement test administered?
A: Our computerized ESL Placement test has no time limit and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Computer experience is not necessary. Test results are available shortly after you finish the test. Please view a sample of the ESL Placement test (PDF).
