Maryland Dream Act

The DREAM Act

at Anne Arundel Community College

Anne Arundel Community College welcomes all students regardless of citizenship.

The Maryland Dream Act went into effect December 6, 2012. The law allows certain high school graduates who are undocumented immigrants, and who meet the prescribed requirements, the opportunity to qualify for special tuition rates at Anne Arundel Community College.

Students who continue to meet Maryland Dream Act requirements can transfer and pay in-state tuition at Maryland state four-year colleges and universities if they earn an associate degree or 60 credits from a Maryland community college.

To qualify  for special tuition rates as prescribed by the Maryland Dream Act, a student must have:

  • Attended a Maryland high school for at least three years, starting no earlier than the 2005-2006 school year;
  • Graduated from a Maryland high school or received a GED no earlier than the 2007-2008 school year;
  • Registered at a Maryland community college within four years of high school graduation or receiving a GED;
  •  Filed Maryland income tax returns (or returns were filed by parent or legal guardian);
  • Applied to become a permanent resident within 30 days of eligibility to do so; and
  • Registered with the Selective Service (males 18 and older)

If you have met these qualifications and wish to apply, complete the Maryland Dream Act Application and submit it to the Admissions office.

TUITION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS/NON-U.S. CITIZENS

For a non-U.S. citizen to be considered a Maryland resident for the purposes of this policy, the student shall possess the legal capacity under state and federal law to establish Maryland domicile. Students with an F, B or J visa status pay out-of-state tuition. Undocumented immigrants who attended high school in Maryland can apply for a special tuition rate equivalent to either the in-county or out-of-county rate. In order to qualify for the Maryland Dream Act tuition rate, students must provide documentation that they meet the requirements. To apply complete the Maryland Dream Act application and submit it to the Admissions office.
