What Can You Do with a Women’s Studies Degree?

  • Women’s Studies students have skills that employers in private businesses and corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations are looking for!

Women's Studies students learn to think critically, to investigate and understand current issues from a variety of viewpoints, and develop innovative approaches and solutions to problems. They learn to work collaboratively with others and to communicate effectively. The interdisciplinary character of Women’s Studies encourages students to understand connections between diverse aspects of our complex, increasingly global, contemporary life.

  • A Women’s Studies degree prepares students for work and further study in a wide range of career fields.

These include medicine, law, education, government, politics and public policy, business, religion, health sciences, social work, international relations, journalism, publishing, criminal justice and the arts. An excellent Web site to consult is: "Career Opportunities for Women's Studies Majors"

  • Women's Studies students can also pursue Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degrees in Women's Studies.

Community college Women’s Studies students who wish to go on to major in Women’s Studies at a four-year institution have a rich choice of programs. More than 700 institutions have Women’s Studies departments or programs.

In addition, AACC’s Women’s Studies program has special transfer agreements with the Women’s Studies departments at the University of Maryland, UMBC, and Towson University.
