Women's Studies Program

Our mission is to enrich and empower women.

Women’s Studies is an exciting interdisciplinary program that focuses on women and issues of gender. It gives students a fuller understanding of human behavior, culture and society as they explore, through the “lens” of gender, how human lives and relationships—both individually and communally—are influenced by various social, political, and economic institutions. By connecting the local to the global, the program promotes an understanding of power relationships in various contexts.

A graduating student

Women’s Studies offers courses cross-listed with many departments. These courses from different disciplines examine diverse women’s roles, experiences and contributions both historically and across cultures. Students gain valuable skills in critical thinking and inquiry as they study the ways in which gender works together with race, class, ethnicity, age, nationality and sexual orientation to shape female experience.

We invite you to join us in this dynamic endeavor!
