2026 Math Awareness and Awards Ceremony

The 2026 Math Awareness and Awards Ceremony honors outstanding mathematics students and explores the beauty of math through a special keynote on music and mathematics.

Anne Arundel Community College invites students, families, faculty and friends to join us for an evening that celebrates achievement, curiosity, and the power of mathematical thinking.

This annual event shines a spotlight on student excellence and the vibrant mathematics community on our campus.

Keynote Presentation

This year’s keynote speaker is Ian A. Wardenski, Ph.D., Professor of Music, who will present:

“Music and Math: Intertwined Expressions of Order, Proportion, and Beauty.”

In this engaging and accessible talk, Dr. Wardenski will explore the surprising and powerful connections between mathematics and music — from structure and symmetry to rhythm and harmony. Whether you love equations, melodies or both, you will leave with a new appreciation for how these disciplines reflect creativity and beauty in the world around us.

5 p.m. – Math Awareness Program
An inspiring program highlighting the impact and relevance of mathematics.

6 p.m. – Math Awards Ceremony
Recognition of outstanding students for their academic excellence, perseverance and achievement in mathematics.
