Stephanie Miller, Director of the Navy's Office of Women's Policy
On October 11, 2010, Ms. Miller was invited by The Institute for the Future to speak about the role of women in the Navy. In the excerpts of her talk featured below, Ms. Miller focuses on the Navy's challenges in recruiting and retaining women. She summarizes the history of women in the some of the progressive policy changes that have been implemented as part of the Life/Work Task Force including the Navy's policy of 12-month operational deferment for women who have just had a baby, and ten days of paternity leave for new fathers.
