"Right after high school, I joined the Marine
Reserves. I wasn't sure what else I wanted to do and
enrolled at AACC to try to find out.
I was then deployed to Afghanistan where I saw
firsthand the positive impact engineers can have on
a community, and I knew that's what I wanted to do.
My AACC professors showed the same leadership
qualities I saw in the Marines - passion, hard work
and concern for others. They even remembered me by
name when I returned from deployment.
My commitment paid off because now I'm
transferring to a four-year university to complete my
bachelor's degree in engineering. And I managed to
become Valedictorian along the way."
